På cd101.com, baserad på ekobrottslighetens mecka, Jersey, har man kommit på ett raffinerat sätt att tackla försäkringsbedrägerier. Beställaren måste ha samma namn som kortinnehavaren! Ta och bit på den alla kortfifflare!

Här är lite brevväxling mellan mig och företaget.

Concerning order 196682.

I day before Christmas I find that my order has not arrived. Logging on I find that the order status is cancelled. Indeed nothing has been deducted from my account. I recieved no notice except the confirmation of order.

What has happened and how do you plan to rectify this?

Dear Martin,

This order was cancelled because the card details did not match the account holders details.  If you wish to proceed with the order you will need to use a card of your own.  I hope this is of some assistance to you.  Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Dear Ann,

May I suggest finding alternative fraud prevention measures. Not only is it an inconvenience, it's also an very easy obstacle to bypass should I really be in possession of someone elses credit card. Bordering on silly, really.

I suppose your Christmas sales weren'y abounding or is there a way I can send my friend a gift given that his name is different from mine without using his credit card?
